Education
We have included education within this section of the website because adopters very often ask questions about it. However, we do not employ education professionals, or have a responsibility toward the education of adopted young people.
The responsibility for the education of all children lies with the department for education and, at a more local level, the local authorities. Adopted children aged 2, 3 and 4 are entitled to up to 570 hours free childcare over the year. You can choose to take up your free place at a wide variety of childcare providers. To find out more about the funded places and which childcare providers offer the free places please contact your local authority.
