Post adoption support

All families need support at different times. For families built by adoption there can be a range of common challenges which are not always recognised by other people and agencies. We have developed these support pages in collaboration with the many adopters with whom we work and consult. Listening to adopters voices we recognise the vast amount of time and energy it often takes our parents to advocate for their children across all sectors. By building these support pages our aim is to create a space where parents can find reliable information as they support their children, and pathways into services. Our hope is that this will make advocating for their children more manageable, and will free up precious time to spend with their families.

Top tips from Adoption South East adopters

Some of our user testers commented that before these pages, they would not have known some of the valuable information included in this section. They recommended that, if adopters don't already know about it, they should take a look at:

  • The Virtual Schools page to find out what the virtual school is and how they can help with your child's education.
  • The financial support page if your child's general care needs are greater than those of most children their age, you may be eligible to claim Disability Living Allowance.

These support pages will always be evolving according to our adopters needs and suggestions. The resources on these pages have been recommended by the adoption community, whom we consulted throughout the web build. If you think we have missed out an area of need, or know of other good web resources please contact us at adoptionvoices@adoptionsoutheast.org.uk.
